“I’m learning, Mom!”- Matthew’s Breakthrough Moment

Matthew is curious, kind and empathetic to others. Matthew is learning new math concepts that have greater complexity. In the past, if a math activity felt too long or too unfamiliar, frustration would take over. He found comfort in repeating the same math activities again and again—safe, but stuck. New math concepts felt impossible, and he often shut down before he had the chance to try.

Today he is facing challenges with bravery, perseverance and confidence. He deeply trusts his learning guides, feels safe and knows he can express what he needs.  Matthew now works longer, follows a progressive math curriculum, looks forward to his math block and most importantly feels proud of himself. He uses manipulatives like counting cubes and number lines, bravely tackles new math concepts and even simple formulas. During the 2024-2025 school year, Matthew completed an entire grade level of math—something that once felt far out of reach.

“I’m learning, Mom,” Matthew told his mom with joy. Today, he continues to grow in confidence and skill—rewriting numbers neatly, solving word problems, and embracing new challenges. Your support made this transformation possible. Because of you, Matthew continues growing his math skills and joy of learning, he’s now on pace for the next grade level.

Give by December 31 to help more learners like Matthew discover the joy of learning.
