Success Story: Emma

“Chicken Dance?” Emma expresses her joy through rhythm and music. She has a few favorite songs that she requests often and invites others to dance and sing along with her as a way of connecting with her people. Emma is a Learner in our Roots program and is in her fourth year at Bloom360. Emma recently stated that the best part of Bloom360 is being part of our community! At Bloom360 Emma has a deep sense of belonging and acceptance that allows her to thrive in her learning!

Emma’s favorite experience this year so far was our Bloom360 Glow Star Party held in collaboration with GLAS (Geneva Lake Astrophysics and STEAM – Education Center). Surrounded by her peers, learning guides and family members, Emma was glowing as she held the world in her hands and gave direction to the sun all while surrounded by her Bloom360 community! Emma’s energy was contagious and inspiring that evening. Emma engaged with her heart, body and lively spirit.

In preparation for the Glow Star Party Emma replicated a few star constellations with marshmallows and toothpicks.  Using fine motor, building and problem-solving skills this activity took patience, perseverance and determination which Emma embraced with a bright smile on her face. When Emma first began at Bloom360 engaging in activities like these were very challenging and overwhelming but over time being supported socially and emotionally by our trusted caring team, Emma’s sense of belonging grew – nurturing her confidence and her ability to take on greater challenges that are just right for her.
